Penalized by Google – Here are Some Tips

Your website is your dream project and with a bustling online business, effective internet marketing strategies, excellent revenues and a steady stream of traffic, life is just a bed of roses. But one day when you switch on your computer and sit to check your search engine ranking, you find that your site is nowhere to be found. It is really frustrating and extremely distressing for the website owners. Why did everything go wrong, is the first question that comes to your mind. A quick check will reveal that your website has been banned from Google for certain issues and it is time to delve deep into it and search the reasons behind it.
Violations of Google Webmaster Guidelines are the chief reasons for your site to be banned. Usually there are no warnings before Google penalizes a site except for the serious drop of sales and viewers to the particular site. Mostly site owners are left wondering why they were removed and searching every means to get back in. Getting banned is fairly a rare event and it is reticent for extremely egregious behavior. Even for most objectionable offences the results are reduced search engine rankings, but the page is still in the Google’s index.

How to Avoid Google Ban

Duplicate content
If multiple web pages display the same content, Google may penalize the site for having copied the content even though it was your own original writing. It is important to keep a track that no other site is using your content.
Cloaking
Cloaking is the method of presenting different content to Google than the one that is viewed by the users. This is done typically to distort search engine rankings and to mislead the users. Google can ban the site to preserve the quality and accuracy of the search results.
Invisible text or links
This is often used by writing texts on a white background or using cascading style sheets to hide the text that are easily spotted by search engines but are invisible to human eyes.
Doorway pages:
These are special pages created to attract the search engines and achieve a better ranking for the targeted keywords. Such pages are not in the navigation mostly.
Buying links or linking to bad neighbors:
It is better to avoid linking to sites that use black hat techniques to increase their rankings. Checking your outbound links regularly can help you to remove any offenders.
Redirect pages:
These pages do not contain much information but have higher rankings in the SERPs. Whenever a viewer clicks they are redirected to another page.

Summary:
The common problem with websites being dropped from Google is basically that they don’t follow ethical SEO tips for optimizing their sites. It is to be remembered that a website should not only have unique content but it must be informative and relevant. Quality matters a lot and to build this, one should avoid all unethical techniques so as not to get banned by Google.
